Cluster for Transport & Mobility in the BerlinBrandenburg region
Traffic and mobility are decisive factors for growth and employment
in the region. Regional and international networked solutions for traffic
performance will become key factors for the development of the economy
and society during the coming years. In the future, it will not be possible
for one individual carrier or a specific technology to provide mobility
efficiently. The emphasis of efforts made must therefore be to increase
the effectiveness of the system as a whole.
For this purpose, innovation is required. Solutions which are economical
and not harmful for the environment and are also accepted by the users
are decisive for success. Primarily, these include intelligent networking
of the various traffic carriers - intermodal mobility.
Current analyses view the cluster for transport & mobility in BerlinBrandenburg
as well-positioned and with a high economic potential. Transport in Berlin
is characterised by the mix of all sub-sectors and technology fields,
the wide scale research sphere and the close-knit interlocking with users
and operators. There are huge potentials in the application and use of
multi-disciplinary networking of science and the economy in order to guarantee
mobility both in the economical and ecological sense.
Activity fields
Within the framework of the Senate's strategy to establish a cluster for
transport and mobility, activity fields were defined within which a more
intense networking of science and the economy should take place and which
result from current priorities:
- Transport telematics,
- Logistics,
- Railway system technology,
- Aerospace engineering and
- Automotive.
Activity fields are characterised by their coverage of the entire value chain from research via production, application and worldwide marketing, thus providing the region the capability to master complex systems in the field of transport & mobility.
